Media Impact Initiative (MII) is a media development platform focused on strengthening journalism, combating misinformation, and empowering communities through practical, skills-based training. MII works with young journalists, community reporters, and media organizations to improve the quality, accuracy, and impact of information ecosystems.
Founded by veteran journalist and media strategist Hajiya Jamilah Tangaza, the initiative equips journalists, media professionals, and young communicators with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to navigate today’s rapidly evolving information landscape.
Our work focuses on equipping journalists, community reporters, and young media professionals with skills in fact-checking, digital verification, ethical reporting, mobile journalism, and the responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Through our training programmes and mentorship initiatives, we are helping media professionals strengthen their verification skills, improve the quality of reporting, and better serve their communities in an era shaped by misinformation and rapidly evolving digital technologies.
